Perched atop the historic Mont Saint-Barthélemy, Les Terrasses de Lyon offers a refined fine dining experience that artfully balances stunning panoramic views with a thoughtfully curated culinary journey. This acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant is a sanctuary for gourmets seeking innovation rooted in classic French elegance, paired with an ambience that is both intimate and quietly sophisticated.
The cuisine here is an eloquent expression of seasonal freshness and meticulous technique, showcased magnificently across their carefully designed menus. From the enticing “Premiers Instants” selection, dishes such as the Tourteau et avocat en cannelloni, accompanied by a tangy condiment acidulé, create a vivid harmony of the sea’s richness and creamy avocado that awakens the palate. Equally beguiling is the Maquereau de ligne micuit en escabèche, where the delicate textures mingle with a fine gelée and a subtly spiced mayonnaise, evoking layers of taste that linger pleasantly.
Among the highlights, the Cœur d’artichaut en diverses textures, with a creamy bed of fève tonka is a revelation for artichoke enthusiasts, offering varied mouthfeels that elevate a humble vegetable into an art form. Seasonal simplicity is embodied in the Tomate de pleine terre caramélisée served with refreshing cucumber milk, a dish that perfectly captures sun-ripened sweetness and delicate acidity. For those seeking a comforting yet elegant touch, the Risotto Arborio aux saveurs de saison delivers creamy, perfectly al dente rice infused with the essence of the moment’s freshest ingredients.
The atmosphere enhances the dining experience with its generous spacing between tables, allowing diners to enjoy a private conversation amid soft lighting and understated luxury. While some have noted the formality of the service, which adds to the refined “old money” aura, the staff's attentiveness—when smoothly coordinated—elevates the evening into a memorable occasion. The verdant veranda and rooftop terrace provide insulated escapes where the cityscape of Lyon unfolds beneath, a breathtaking backdrop that inspires awe during daylight hours.
Diners who share a penchant for wine will appreciate the expertly chosen wine list, complemented by knowledgeable sommeliers who tailor their recommendations with genuine care, enriching each course with perfect pairings. The signature tasting menu, especially when accompanied by sparkling selections, presents a thoughtful progression of flavors, from playful onion foam to delicately balanced quenelles, celebrated by patrons for creativity and elegance alike.
While some guests have experienced slower service at peak times, those seeking a leisurely, immersive meal will find Les Terrasses de Lyon worth the moment's patience—its culinary artistry and exceptional setting creating a rarefied dining event. For anyone eager to celebrate special occasions or simply indulge in culinary excellence with a view that belies its city-center location, this restaurant remains a jewel of Lyon's gastronomic scene.
Reservations, especially for coveted spots by the veranda or rooftop, are highly recommended to secure the magical interplay of exceptional food and sweeping vistas. Whether you come to savor meticulously crafted dishes or to soak in the sophisticated atmosphere, Les Terrasses de Lyon promises a sublime sensory adventure that honors both tradition and innovation.

Nice place! Terrific view over the city. Nicely decorated dining room with ample space between the tables for privacy. Smooth and efficient service, food of course excellent at a good price point. Great location!

There are actually 3 restaurants: terrasse, restaurant, bistro Terrasse is on the roof, open to the wind, and has a great view. Good food, good cocktails. Entrance is through the bistro, then take elevator up. Restaurant is one floor below but indoor with glass windows. 1 Michelin star. Entrance is uphill. Bistro is bottom floor. No view. Entrance is downhill. Management should really make all this more clear on their website and better signs.

A wonderful cuisine for a wonderful view, in a wonderful setting. Exceptional food (asparagus and Rouget.) Very interesting choice of wines, with great advice. Be sure to book early to secure the seats near the veranda. Service is welcoming and friendly.

We went on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full. The ambience was a little bit too formal for me, kind of old money style. Al the waiting staff wearing suits and ties… Also you could not see the view of Lyon as the glass windows reflected the lights from the restaurant. That was disappointing for me Maybe it would be better to go during daylight. The food was amazing and the quantity was pretty decent too. We got the 130€ menu and the 70€ one. Overall it’s a good restaurant to go for the food and not the views.

The service was super slow. Had to ask several times for our drink order. No olives for a martini. You need a great set of teeth to eat the meat! Atmosphere was very nice.

Great view, decent food (nothing mind-blowing though for the price), great wines. However service was VERY slow. We had a 6 course menu and it took 3.5 hours (!) from the moment we arrived till we could leave.

we had a really lovely evening ordering the tasting menu and a bottle of bubbles at the somm’s recommendation. all of the dishes were thoughtful, creative, and well executed (the onion foam and the quenelle were standouts). the service was friendly, very team oriented. the dining room has a quiet, soft lit ambience, with enough energy to be exciting but subdued enough to feel private.
